We offer courses across the province, typically in the Spring and Fall, including the internationally known Advanced Trauma Life Support\u00ae (ATLS\u00ae) course, Trauma Nursing Core Course<b>\u2122<\/b> (TNCC<b>\u2122<\/b>), Rural Trauma Team Development Course\u00a9 (RTTDC\u00a9) and our own Mobile Trauma Simulation Program. Its courses provide you with a safe and reliable method for immediate management of injured patients. The course teaches you how to assess a patient&#8217;s condition, resuscitate and stabilize them, and determine if their needs exceed a facility&#8217;s capacity. Inter hospital transfer and assurance of optimal patient care during transfer is also covered. An ATLS\u00ae course provides an easy method to remember for evaluation and treatment of a trauma victim.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>ATLS\u00ae Benefits<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>ATLS\u00ae presents a systematic and organized approach for evaluation and management of the seriously injured patient.<\/li>\n<li>ATLS\u00ae Provides physicians with a measurable, comprehensive, and reproducible system of trauma assessment and critical interventions for the patient with multiple injuries.<\/li>\n<li>ATLS\u00ae offers doctors, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners&#8217; integral knowledge and skills that are essential for optimal patient management.<\/li>\n<li>ATLS\u00ae provides a foundation of common knowledge for all members of the trauma team and is applicable in both large urban centers and small rural emergency departments.<\/li>\n<li>The knowledge and skills acquired at the course are easily adapted to all situations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>ATLS\u00ae Objectives:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Demonstrate the concepts and principles of the primary and secondary patient assessment.<\/li>\n<li>Establish management priorities in a trauma situation.<\/li>\n<li>Initiate primary and secondary management necessary within the golden hour for the emergency management of acute-life threatening conditions.<\/li>\n<li>Arrange appropriately for a patient&#8217;s interhospital or intrahospital transfer.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrate skills often required in the initial assessment and treatment of patient with multiple injuries through simulated clinical and surgical skills practicum.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Accreditation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The American College of Surgeons is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Mainpro+ Credit Designation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The College of Family Physicians of Canada accepts AMA PRA Category 1 credits as Mainpro+ certified Group Learning credits. CFPC physicians can claim a maximum of 50 AMA PRA Category 1 credits per 5-year cycle. Please enter your Mainpro+ credits as AMA PRA Category 1 credits under the Group Learning and certified categories in your Mainpro+ account. Provider Courses as a 2-day, instructor-led in-person course. ENA has incorporated a variety of learning methodologies to meet the needs of every learning style, including: \u00a0a provider manual, online modules, and instructor-led classroom discussion and skill stations. Interactive activities are interwoven throughout the classroom time. We bring simulation equipment to sites around the province, allowing learners to practice in their own region, with their own teams. The program offers pre-course reading and a full day of simulated cases. Limited didactic content is covered using a flipped classroom style, and simulations are debriefed in a highly collegial, reproducible and evidence-based way. You will leave the day more comfortable with learning by simulation, and with managing the specific clinical content covered.<\/p>\n<p>Mobile Simulation registration fees:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Physicians: $2,000 <\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Non-Physicians: $120<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Clinical Content<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This full day of simulated major trauma cases primarily focuses on airway management during increasingly complex cases ranging from rapid sequence intubation in the stable and unstable patient to the indications for the &#8216;awake&#8217; intubation and surgical airway.
